Jose Theatre Renovation

Description: This highly complex project entailed the demolition of a half a block of buildings, shoring of the Jose Theatre’s entire truss-roof structure, removal of the entire south masonry wall (50’x 120” long), replacing the wall with shotcrete, and a complete seismic retrofit. Subsequent to this will be the restoration of the terra cotta Spanish Revival façade, replacement of damaged wood members, masonry cleaning, restoration of the marquee and neon, and new storefronts. Garden City Construction acted as technical advisor, provided costs estimating, and performed the work as General Contractor for the project. The Jose Theatre is a City Landmark and eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
